Concrete Floor Coating Care Checklist

Follow these guidelines during the first 48 hours to help protect your new floor while the coating cures. The maintenance recommendations below will help keep it clean and looking its best over time. If your crew provides project-specific instructions, follow those first.

Step 1

During the First 48 Hours

Protect the Curing Floor

Stay Off the FloorAvoid walking on the newly coated floor for at least 6–8 hours, or until your crew confirms that it is safe.
Keep Vehicles and Items Off the FloorDo not park vehicles or move belongings back into the garage for 36–48 hours. This allows the coating time to cure properly.
Keep the Garage Door Off the CoatingIf the coating extends to the garage door opening, keep the door slightly open during the initial curing period to prevent it from touching or damaging the finish.
Ask About Temporary ProtectionWe can provide a tarp secured across the garage opening to help protect the curing floor from debris, insects, and outdoor elements. Let your crew know if you would like this added.

Manage Airflow and Moisture

Maintain AirflowWhen weather conditions permit, keep the garage door slightly open and open nearby windows to promote airflow while the coating cures.
Keep Moisture AwayDo not park vehicles covered in rain or snow on the newly coated surface during the curing period. Avoid allowing standing water to remain on the floor.

Step 2

Ongoing Floor Care

Clean and Protect the Surface

Remove Debris PromptlySweep away sand, salt, dirt, and other debris regularly. Rinse the floor with water as needed, and use a squeegee to remove excess moisture.
Clean with an Approved ProductUse a non-abrasive floor cleaner for routine cleaning. Avoid prolonged exposure to bleach, acids, highly corrosive products, and abrasive cleaners.
Treat Stubborn StainsApply an approved cleaner and allow it to sit for 5–10 minutes. Scrub gently with a non-abrasive brush, then rinse the area thoroughly.
Protect the SurfaceAvoid dragging heavy items across the floor. Use appropriate pads or protection beneath equipment, shelving, and other objects.
