Expert preparation and application
The finish lasts because of what happens before and after the color goes down. Every floor gets the same six-step system.
Preparation
The floor is shot blasted or diamond ground so the coating can bond. Grinders are hooked to vacuums to minimize dust.
Concrete repair
Menders and fillers fix pits and cracks before coating begins.
Basecoat
The basecoat is mixed and applied to the prepared surface.
Broadcasting the flake
Flakes are generously broadcast into the basecoat, providing color and texture.
Scraping the flake
Once the basecoat cures, the floor is scraped and vacuumed to remove loose flakes.
Clear coat
A UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat locks in the finish.
Floor coatings are not a paint color decision. Durability depends on moisture, surface prep, existing coatings, traffic, and cure time. The best proposal makes those conditions visible up front, so expectations are set before the work begins.

Step one is preparation. We begin by using shot blasting or diamond grinding to profile and clean the concrete surface. Grinders are connected to a vacuum system to minimize dust. Step two is concrete repair. We address floor imperfections with menders and fillers to repair pits and cracks before the coating is applied.
Step three is the base coat. The base coat is mixed and applied to form the foundation of the coating system. Step four is broadcasting the flake. Decorative flakes are hand-broadcast into the wet base coat to add color and texture. Step five is scraping the flake. Once the base coat dries, the floor is scraped to remove loose or vertical flakes and create a uniform texture.
Step six is the clear coat. A UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat is rolled out to seal and protect the new floor. With A.G. Do you coat garage and basement floors?
Yes. Garage and basement floors are our most common floor coating projects. A typical two- to three-car garage is installed in one day.
How long does the coating last?
Residential floor coatings typically last 15 to 20 years.
How soon can I use the floor?
You can walk on the floor in 24 hours and park vehicles after about two days.
How do I clean it?
Soap and water. For a deeper clean, use Spray Nine or Simple Green.
Will it fade, stain, or chip?
The flake system is finished with a UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat, making it stain resistant, salt resistant, and resistant to hot-tire pickup. It is an impact-resistant coating. It is the same system we install on commercial floors.
Is the installation dusty?
No. The floor is shot blasted or diamond ground, and every grinder is hooked to a vacuum to minimize dust.
Is it slippery?
The flake and topcoat give the floor texture. Additional grip can be added for more slip resistance.
Can I choose a single solid color?
Yes. For garages we recommend the flake system because the flakes and topcoat provide UV stability and texture. Solid colors work well in basements.
Can it be customized?
Yes. Colors and blends can be customized. Ask during your walkthrough.
Can you coat stairs, walls, or around utilities?
Yes, where applicable. We coat vertical surfaces, stairs, and around fixtures like oil tanks and boilers wherever our hands can reach.
Will the coating stop moisture or flooding?
Coatings do not solve flooding, but they help stop moisture from coming up through the floor.
Do you level the floor?
No. The coating follows the floor's existing contour and pitch. It also does not change the floor's height. Whatever we grind off, the coating replaces.
Do you offer polished concrete?
No, but we offer a comparable grind-and-clear finish: we grind the floor and apply clear coats for the natural look of concrete with the protection of a coating.
What if my concrete is in poor condition?
If a slab is past the point where a coating will perform, we will tell you and help you weigh the options, including referrals to concrete professionals, even if the project is not a fit for us. Thin skim-coat overlays are typically not a good fit, but we will evaluate them.
Can you estimate from photos?
The floor has to be seen in person to price accurately because condition, existing coatings, and moisture all affect the system. Schedule a walkthrough.
