Fixing Siding and Trim the Right Way

Some problems only appear once the trim comes off. In this short video, Paul Viggiano of A.G. Williams Painting Company shows a door frame where another contractor installed the siding and casing incorrectly, and how our team corrects it instead of covering it up.

Paul Viggiano here with A.G. Williams Painting. I want to show you guys an example of some carpentry repairs, and the wrong way of doing things and then the right way of doing things. So we were contracting on this home, and when we took the trim off of this door frame, we noticed that the siding was installed behind the casing and the casing was put on top. So what we’re doing now is cutting the siding and properly installing the casing.

I’ll show you an example of where we’ve cut, over here on the left side of the frame. So we’ve cut out that siding, and now the trim will go in here. We’ll flash behind, and we will also replace the drip cap on top. I’ll follow up with you guys and show you a little bit of the before and after. But this is what we talk about when we say A.G. Williams Painting: the people you trust to do the job right. Take care.

  3. 3

    Flashing behind the trim

Flashing goes in behind the trim to keep water out of the wall.
